- 六因
- The six causations of the [lang id =1028]六位 six stages of Bodhisattva development, q. v. Also, the sixfold division of causes of the Vaibhāṣikas (cf. Keith, 177-8); every phenomenon depends upon the union of [lang id =1028]因 primary cause and [lang id =1028]緣 conditional or environmental cause; and of the [lang id =1028]因 there are six kinds:(1) [lang id =1028]能作因 karaṇahetu, effective causes of two kinds: [lang id =1028]與力因 empowering cause, as the earth empowers plant growth, and [lang id =1028]不障因 non-resistant cause, as space does not resist, i. e. active and passive causes;(2) [lang id =1028]倶有因 sahabhūhetu, co-operative causes, as the four elements [lang id =1028]四大 in nature, not one of which can be omitted;(3) [lang id =1028]同類因 sabhāgahetu, causes of the same kind as the effect, good producing good, etc.;(4) [lang id =1028]相應因 saṃprayuktahetu, mutual responsive or associated causes, e. g. mind and mental conditions, subject with object; Keith gives 'faith and intelligence'; similar to(2);(5) [lang id =1028]遍行因 sarvatragahetu, universal or omnipresent cause, i. e. of illusion, as of false views affecting every act; it resembles(3) but is confined to delusion;(6) [lang id =1028]異熟因 vipākahetu, differental fruition, i. e. the effect different from the cause, as the hells are from evil deeds.* * *﹝出大智度論﹞ 〔一、 相應因〕, 應, 當也。 謂心王與心所共相應, 故如親友知識和合成事, 故名相應因。 (心王, 即第八識也。 心所, 即受想行也。 ) 〔二、 俱有因〕, 俱有因, 亦名共因, 謂心與心所更相佐助, 如兄弟同生互相成濟, 故名俱有因。 〔三、 同類因〕, 同類因, 亦名自種因, 謂過去善法與現在善法為因, 現在善法與未來善法為因, 故名同類因。 惡、 無記法, 亦復如是。 (惡、 無記法者, 惡即惡法, 無記即不善不惡之法也。 ) 〔四、 遍行因〕, 謂苦集二諦下惑也。 此惑遍於二諦, 故名遍行因。 (苦諦下惑十使具足, 即身見、 邊見、 見取、 戒取、 邪見、 貪、 嗔、 癡、 慢、 疑也。 集諦下惑但有七使, 除身見、 邊見、 戒取也。 ) 〔五、 異熟因〕, 謂行善惡因, 得善惡報, 異世而熟, 故名異熟因。 〔六、 能作因〕, 謂眼與色為緣, 能生眼識; 乃至意與法為緣, 能生意識等, 皆名能作因。* * *1.指十信、 十住、 十行、 十迴向、 十地、 等覺等之因地六位。 2.凡有為法的生起, 必依因與緣的和合, 論因體, 有六種, 即能作因、 俱有因、 同類因、 相應因、 遍行因、 異熟因。
